
Biography
Matthew is a partner at Sutherland Law with a broad civil and criminal litigation practice. Matthew brings over a decade of courtroom experience and litigation knowledge to achieve practical and cost-effective solutions for his individual and corporate clients in all manner of legal disputes.
Prior to joining Sutherland Law, Matthew articled at a large full-service firm and then developed his litigation skills practicing at a boutique firm downtown that focused on Commercial Litigation, Employment Law and Personal Injury Law.
Matthew has experience representing and providing advice to clients in matters at all levels of court in Ontario and has also represented clients before administrative tribunals including the Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Licensing Appeal Tribunal.
Matthew received his law degree from Queen’s University, where he was the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Queen’s Law Journal and played a prominent role in the creation of the Canadian Guide to Legal Style, a style guide used by Canadian legal academics, practitioners and students.
In his spare time, Matthew enjoys playing guitar, travelling, golfing and spending time with family.
