Biography

Amir Gareiw is an associate at Sutherland Law, having joined the firm in 2025. He practices civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on construction law and debt collection.

Amir earned a dual Canadian and American Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy in 2023, after completing his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Economics at McMaster University. During law school, he was recognized with several distinctions, including winning Windsor Law’s inaugural Transnational Moot Court Competition and earning a distinction in the Dual JD Canadian Moot Court Competition. He also served as a treasurer and class representative in various student organizations and participated in Windsor Law’s peer mentorship program.

Prior to joining Sutherland Law, Amir gained experience in personal injury litigation, mortgage enforcement, and debt collection law.. His experience includes appearing before the Superior Court of Justice, preparing motions and legal pleadings, and negotiating favorable settlements for institutional clients.

Amir is fluent in Arabic and often volunteers with Arabic-language schools. He also has a passion for advocacy, international law, and dispute resolution, reflected in his past mediation training and volunteer roles with non-profit organizations.

Outside the office, Amir is a devoted Arsenal supporter and a New York Knicks fan. He enjoys traveling, playing soccer and basketball, and expressing his creativity through writing, photography, and music.
